    Hello,
I am encountering a strange duplication of data write during FLASH write operation.

I am using MCF5485EVB from LogicPD and Codewarrior IDE for Coldfire (V5) .

Application Flash start address : 0xE0000000

    a) Write operation
When I successfully program/write into the sector-0; sector-16 also gets written with same data as in sector-0!!.
When I successfully program/write into the sector-1;sector-17 also gets written with same data as in sector-1.
    This continues...
I confirmed this by peeking into the content of FLASH .

    b) Erase operation
When I successfully erase Sector-0; Sector-16 also gets erased.
When I successfully erase sector-1. Sector-17 also gets erased.
    This continues...

Two ways I checked this problem.
    1. Through Codewarrior's Flash-programming utility.
    2. Through Free scale provided Intel Starta K3 Flash device driver.

With this to approaches, the behaviour is identical i.e. as explained above.

I wonder if this is a board problem !!..

Has anybody encountered this problem with this board or any other board ?
Any insight on this problem? or any pointer to resolve this issue ?

    I would appreciate your help.

    Thank you.

    With Regards,

    Kiran,

The problem that you're seeing is because you have an early release rev 30x board which has an known addressing problem. Freescale shipped these beta development kits to variety of customers pre-production with a warning about this being one of the known issues on the board.

    Specifically:

There is an issue on the rev 30x boards. The problem is LA_FB_AD23 and LA_FB_AD21 are not connected to the U14 flash chip. The rev A0x boards and later have this corrected.

I would suggest contacting Freescale at the following link and request a rev A00 or later model through their RMA process.

    https://www.freescale.com/webapp/ruhp.login.framework

If you'd like to try to rework the board instructions are documented and available to do this fix in the field. Please email platformsupport@logicpd.com for more information on doing this.
