Last month I got M5475CFE replacement board, Rev B (replacing my old board, Rev 305). It came with dBUG v4a.1a.1d (Dec 6 2004 build) installed and seemed working fine. Recently I tried to reprogram the boot flash (for practice of my own dBUG, but tried Freescale's dBUG first), but it did not work. I used M54X5EVB updater. It seemed going through ok but, after rebooting, the dBUG v4a.1a.1d was still there. Since M54X5EVB updater does not have "verify" capability, I then used Freescale's CF Flasher 3.0 to program/verify - it ended up with verifying error. Did an Erase for a specific sector, but it remained unerased.

Is Rev B board configured to have Write-Protect for boot flash (ie, WP- driven low by CPLD) ? Can't find any jumpers on the board for WP-. It was ok to program the boot flash on my Rev 305 board - I did it before with burning different versions of dBUG.

Have sent this question to Freescale's support, but no response yet.

    Ya, that's it. Thanks.

I knew that the old ChipSelect settings (prior to v4a.1a.1d version of dBUG, Dec 6 04 Build) would have problem with programming Code Flash, but never suspected it would happen to Boot Flash.

I went to revise M5475EVB(Boot).cfg of CF Flasher 3.0 and made

    write.l MBAR 0x00000508 0x00100D80

    as CSCR0 in dBUG v4a.1a.1d

Now CF Flasher works for Boot Flash
