    Hi All,

Just wondering if there are any  5.8GHz wlan example, tutorial or  if sample files (hostapd.conf, etc...) available.  I've been trying to use 5.8GHz wireless, but have not been successful.  Thanks in advance.

Default the system is set to use a world-wide regulatory configuration, so it won't intentionally transmit on certain bands. Because of this, the Access Point will not transmit on 5GHz bands, and only certain 2.4GHz channels are available. If there is a router working at the 5.8GHz, the Torp+Wireless will connect to it in station mode and that is the mode we used for testing.

I am looking into seeing if there is a simple solution to this, but I don't have one right now.

I have identified a bug that is preventing the system from switching modes for different countries. I am working on solving it, but even before I can release anything, I need to find out what impact this might have on our wireless certification. With a hack to bypass the bug, I was able to get the 5.8G channels to work. I will keep you posted as I make progress.

Unfortunately, after discussing it with some of the engineers here, our regulatory certification won't permit us to change modes.

If you wanted to sign up for a services contract, our services group would be able to work with you on addressing this issue for your application. Unfortunately, I cannot publish anything that would make the device violate regulatory compliance.

I found a potential approach that may keep regulatory compliance in the US, but I am waiting for feedback from some other engineers.

Are you planning on using this outside the US?

    Hi Adam,

Sorry about the late reply. We are not planning to use outside the US.
