    We have multiple Torpedo SOM 3730 carrier boards in which we copied the debug USB section from the reference design.  They all exhibit occasional failures to boot into linux.  Are you aware of any issues with noise on the TxD line halting uboot when the USB is not connected to a host?

    I am not aware of any customer having issues booting the DM37x Torpedo because of noise on the TxD line.  Are you having issues when using the DM37x Linux BSP U-boot v2.4-2?  This is available for download here[1].

    We are am using U-Boot 2011.06 BSP-dm37x-2.2-2 (Sep 26 2012 - 14:38:04).

     I will test with the 2.4.2 BSD

    I still get occasional boot fails with: U-Boot 2011.06 BSP-dm37x-2.4-2 (Jun 18 2013 - 13:57:32)

     

    The diagnosis of the failure is that after allowing sufficient time for Linux to boot, connecting to the USB console/debug port show the boot prompt:  OMAP Logic #

    David,

    If you are still having any issues when booting the "DM37x Linux SD Card Demo Image" I would consider looking more closely at the hardware. One idea might be to review the AN 493 DM3730 - AM3703 Torpedo SOM Design Checklist.

    David,

    If you think the issue could be related to your hardware we do provide a couple support contracts that includes a full schematic review with respect to the interfaces to the SOM on your carrier board.  More information on our Design Support Contracts can be seen http://www.logicpd.com/contact/inquiry/.
