Hi. I was wondering if anyone could tell me from their experience how well wince performs with sharp arm, in general, and logic boards?

I used to run wince 3.0 on x86 100mhz and it was horrible and slow.

    ssg10,

    Great question!

Logic currently has WinCE 4.2 running on our LH7A400-10 card engines and SDKs with a great deal of success. Logic has developed drivers specific to our card engine to speed and streamline the development process for our customers.

Just been doing some benchmarks on our devkit. I seem to be getting less than i would expect. I've been using http://homepage2.nifty.com/qta/bmq/bmqprog.htm to test and seem to be getting aproximately half on integer/float benchmark against an similiar ARM9 running at the same mhz (the samsung one in the hp1930 ipaq).

I'm getting 312 for integer and 28 for floating point on this benchmark where as the samsung gets 640 for integer and 60 for float. Is this typical for the sharp arm9, or is something messed up?

    Davdun2,

Could you tell me a little more about what you are doing.

    Specifically:

    1) Are you running a CE kernel from RAM or Flash?
    2) Are you using a debug, retail, or retail+ship-build image?
    3) What is happening in your system while you are running the test? For instance, are you using the display, are you using the network, etc.

Also, please be aware that the ipaq is running the PocketPC operating system. PocketPC _does_ use the Windows CE kernel, however, Microsoft has an entire team devoted entirely to optimizing everything about it. This includes the libraries, the compilers, etc. Believe me, you can take the exact same hardware and see major differences between the performance of a Windows CE image versus a PocketPC image.

If there are specific areas you are looking to increase performance on, please let me know and we can probably help you out.

    Best regards,
