    The Card Engine (CE) HW Spec, section 2.4 indicates that the CE uses a standard 3-wire MMC interface (Command, Clock, and Bi-Directional Data).

    Section 5.4.3 of the same spec, shows that pin 49 of expansion connector J1B is for MMC SPI mode chip select. What is the relevance of this line if the CE only supports MMC mode?

    How does the CE perfrom MMC card insertion/detection?

    The CE supports both modes, I think. There is no card insertion/detection in the CE. That feature is something you would design into the MMC/SD connector itself, and wire back to the ARM on a GPIO line.
