I've loaded the demo image of Windows CE and have it working. When I connect the USB to my workstation, I have a device under "Windows CE USB Devices" in the Device Manager called "Microsoft USB Sync", but ActiveSync doesn't connect to it and doesn't see it when I select "Get Connected" in ActiveSync. USB is selected in the "Connection Settings" and the Connection Status there says Connected, but the main screen says "Not Connected".

I've tried to connect with Visual Embedded and it doesn't see anything there.

    Hi Greg,

Have you installed the USBF Workstation Driver? It can be found here:

    http://www.logicpd.com/do...k_Station_Driver.zip

Instructions for using the sample image and connecting over Activesync can be found in the Windows CE Evaluation Guide. A link is below:

    http://www.logicpd.com/do...81/1001090_Rev_D.pdf

Please post back here with any more questions that you have.

    Regards,

I followed the guide but when I plugged in the USB cable I was never asked for a driver. My system seemed to have one.
You drivers didn't include their own installer. I even tried right clicking the INF file and using install there. I also copied the SYS and INF files to their appropriate directories on my workstation and then rebooted. Still no joy.

    Greg,

Do you have any other Pocket PC or Windows CE devices that might already have drivers installed for Activesync?

Yes, I have. Ipaqs, Dells, Arcom PC104 and maybe another. I don't remember loading any drivers for USB activesync other than when ActiveSync gets installed, unless it came with a SDK for Embedded C++.

Do you think that will make a difference?

I tried going to Device Manager and doing a driver update and pointing to your drivers, but it didn't seem to make it ActiveSync. The weird thing is in the Connection Settings of ActiveSync, it says Connected under USB.

    Greg,

You might want to try uninstalling the previous drivers that you have for those USB devices. I believe that whether you use Logic's USBF workstation driver or the one that Windows specifies for you it will still work. But I find it odd that you were not prompted to associate a driver with the device. I'm going to double check this on my end just to be sure.

    Thanks,

I had to get off the project for a couple days... problems on other projects...

I hope to get back to it in a couple days and test your method.

I have developed on a couple other platforms and never seen this problem before.

I wonder if it has something to do with the USB PID and VID? That is what indicates driver and equipment type I think. Anyway, I'll report back as soon as I know..

We are having extreme difficulty establishing an active sync connection using USB.

Loading the sample, pre-built NK.BIN files sometimes will connect. Most of the time, a dialog pops up on the dev kit's screen and goes away (too fast to read) indicating some sort of USB activity and goes away. No connection. This happes with both the 'show' and 'dev' images.

I have been able to estabish a connection with the 'show' image only after a successful connection with the dev image, reboot the development board followed by loading the 'show' image.

This behaviour happes with both Active Sync 3.7.1 and 3.8. I've tried to use the USBF Work Station Driver: We never received a prompt to locate the driver and there aren't any instructions on how to force it's installation.

The host computer has absolutely no problem connecting to an iPAQ family PDA so I know that all of the ports are OK.

    Hello dhayes,

So I understand your situation can you verify that you've been able to connect over ActiveSync?

Right now there is a known issue with re-connecting over ActiveSync on the PXA270 after a power down. We are currently looking into the cause of this bug and will be fixing it. Is it possible that's what you are seeing?

    Thanks,

Earlier today, I was able to make an active sync connection using the Dev Image NK.BIN with the PC running Activesync 3.7.1. After sucussfully connecting with this image, I was able to:

    1. Reset the target board.
    2. Load the show image of NK.BIN and boot it.
    3. Create an Active Sync connection.

We tried to move on to Activesync 3.8 and got the problem described earlier (USB activty, USB device appears in device manager but no connection.

If I set up a partnership, any future attempts to boot and/or connect would fail until all partnerships were removed.

Seeing something about the USBF_Work_Station_Driver, we tried to force the host to install that driver to see if it would solve this problem. In the process, I was able to receive the 'blue screen of death'.

We finally uninstalled/reinstalled Activesync and let the operating system choose which version of wceusbsh.sys to 'install' (It is currently 3.7.1.3244).

    Our symptoms are currently:
    * We can see a device in the device manager (Microsoft USB Sync).
    * When we try to connect, we see a short lived dialog box on the target indicating something is happening but no connection.

    Hello,

We have the same problem: "When I connect the USB to my workstation, I have a device under "Windows CE USB Devices" in the Device Manager called "Microsoft USB Sync", but ActiveSync doesn't connect to it and doesn't see it when I select "Get Connected" in ActiveSync."

And also:"I followed the guide but when I plugged in the USB cable I was never asked for a driver. My system seemed to have one".

Does someone know how to resolve this problem?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

This has been found to be an issue between the Serial driver and USB Function driver in windows CE. The sample images on the website have been upated with the fix. If you are building your own platform please refer to the Developer News posting about this issue below:
