I made a program based on the GPS demo which acquired lat/long/alt ..... and worked fine the other day.  However, I was trying to test a few SD cards by trial and error to see if any where 1.8V cards so I could use another SD card.  GPSdemo runs and looks like it is seeing up to 6 satellites and is generating NEMA data but it says that the GPS status is unknown and doesnt give lat/long/alt... data.  Could trying to use the 1.8V SD card slot damage the GPS functionality on the SOM?

Kept it on for a few hours with GPS antenna connected and tried to run my program again and it all of a sudden started to work again.  Not sure why.  Did have it powered off for a few days before I started having the issue.  Does the GPS go into a survey mode if it has not got a lock for a while that takes a while before it begins to report coordinates?

Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of information about the GPS driver. The company we hired to write the driver is no longer in business. They were acquired and the acquiring company cannot find record of the driver development. The GPS driver is not closed source and we don't have the driver source, so I do not know for sure how the GPS internally handles itself.

What I can tell you is that when we did some of the GPS receiver testing it, it ran for hours continuously looking for signal, and I never saw it stop.

As far as the SD cards go, the SD cards should not have any impact on the GPS. The SD cards are connected to the processor over the SDIO interface and the GPS is connected to the processor via the UART.
