    Hi,

I think i've made a fatal mistake when trying to update the bootloader on my LH7A400-10 SDK.

I downloaded the .zip file "LogicLoader for the LH7A400-10" from the Logic PD website. Then i loaded the .bin file "lolo_bolo_1.4.4_LH7a400_10_LCE_0033.bin" into the device's RAM from the losh prompt (by transfering it to a CF card first). The image loaded okay, and the checksums worked out. I then used the burn command to burn the image to flash. After confirming the overwrite of block zero, the burn succeeded. I then reset the processor and.... nothing. No LED's, no UART.

I realise i probably should have used the .elf file rather than the .bin, so have i completely knackered the bootloader? Is there any way to recover from this without using a JTAG?

    idlemind,

I'm guessing that bolo is indeed gone. There a couple ways that we can go about fixing this. The first question I have for you is do you have an ARM Multi ICE? Or a comparable JTAG? If you do there is an application note called "AN 248 Restoring a Corrupt Bolo/Lolo with an ARM Multi-ICE JTAG", using this application note you should be able to restore bolo/lolo fairly easily.

But since you've asked if there's a way to do this without a JTAG I'm guessing you don't have one. If this is the case then you can ship your kit to Logic and we can do an RMA for $100 and get it up and running again. If you're interested in pursuing this route email platformsupport@logicpd.com for information on how we can get this started.

how did downloading the .bin mess things up so badly? Presumably i didn't store complete garbage in the flash. In what situation would you use the .bin and why is it included in the .zip? If it is _essential_ that you use the .elf then why isn't this made clear in the readme file?

how can i check if bolo is functioning? should the LEDs flash?

    Thanks,

    Tim

    Tim,

First off let me say I'm not completely sure why this didn't work for you, I've verified the file here at the office and everything seems fine.

There are two more suggestions that I can give you, I would be interested in knowing if bolo is still in flash. To find this out follow these steps.

    1) Power up the kit
    2) Hold the 'q' key
    3) Now reset the kit, in theory Bolo should come up.

If this doesn't work do you have any reps or distributors in your area that could loan you a JTAG?

If either of these aren't options send me an email at platformsupport@logicpd.com and we can discuss getting your board fixed.

i should be able to borrow a JTAG device, but it is not an ARM multi-ICE. Will i still be able to use it? I believe it is a Macraigor RAVEN, and comes with the 20-pin Multi-ICE adaptor. If i borrow this device will you be able to talk me through restoring the bootloader?

    Thanks again,

    Tim

    Tim,

I can give you some pointers and guidance on procedure, but Logic has found Macraigor Raven and Wiggler to be too difficult to work with to endorse or support. An ARM Multi-ICE is the most highly recommended by Logic.

With that in mind please email platformsupport@logicpd.com and I can go into further detail on how to restore bolo/lolo.
