    Hello,

Is there SATA at all in that Ind temp SOM or is it just not guaranteed to work for full temp area?

    Risto,

The industrial temp SOM model SOMOMAPL138-10-1602QHIR does not have the SATA clock source populated on the board. Therefore it doesn't support SATA at all.

The SOM that does support SATA (model SOMOMAPL138-10-1602AHCR) unfortunately is not rated for industrial temp due to the limitations of the temp ratings for the processor and crystal oscillators implemented on that board.

    Thank you Joe,

Is there footprint for clock source, crystal and passives on PCB anyway?

    Risto,

Yes, the footprints for the clock and related components are on the board. The same PCB is used for the assemblies with and without SATA. If you are thinking you would purchase the I-temp assembly and modify it by adding the SATA clock components, that would be a viable route. You would need to understand however that these customer modifications would void the warranty on the board.

    Joe,

Naturally, that modification would be on my charge. What would be the minimum batch if you do it for me? Have you ever been thinking of implementing SATA to this module - in the case customers use I-temp SOMs it would be a benefit?

    Risto,

Unfortunately we aren't setup to do small quantity board modifications for a fee. If you wanted to go this route you'd need to arrange to do the changes on your end.

I haven't heard of any other customer demand for this SATA enabled module in I-temp applications. We aren't seeing a business case to add it to our standard product line.

    Joe,

Thank you for this valuable information - I need to think about the solution.

For what it is worth, I would also be interested in an I-temp version of the SATA module. It probably isn't worth much though since I'm dealing in quantities of 3-15...
    Thanks,
    Scott
