    Hello,

the OMAP-L138 SOM-M1 has two SPI ports. I need one SPI port in my design. I do not want to use SPI1, because the system boots from SPI1 by default. I do not want to wait for the Linux System booting, until the bus can be used by the DSP.

Thus my choice is to use SPI0. The HW Spec of the SOM says, that SPI0_SIMO, SPI0_SOMI and SPI0_CLK are used for communication with the Ethernet PHY on the SOM. If I go without Ethernet PHY, is it possible to use SPI0 for own purposes, by DSP?

If you are not going to use the PHY and your quantities justify doing a custom SOM, then you can have the SOM manufactured without the PHY. This would be the best way to get access to SPI0.

We have small quantities for the SOM in this application. Do I necessarily have to change hardware of the SOM board to use SPI0 port? Which hardware changes do I have to make to be able to use SPI0?

We have removed the PHY for now. However maybe it is sufficient to remove the resistances R75, R76 and R77. I will test this also and give a feedback, as soon as I have done this.
