I have the schematic to the Torpedo Launcher 3 baseboard from the Torpedo development kit. The board uses a LAN9221 to achieve Ethernet connectivity and we plan on using this in our custom design. A small EEPROM, the AT93C46 from Atmel is attached through a 3-wire port, presumably to store the MAC address. However the data sheet for the LAN9221 specifies a clock rate of approximately 900 kHz for this port (EECLK cycle time ~= 1120 ns) while the data sheet for the AT93C46 specifies a maximum clock rate of 250 kHz with a 1.8V supply as is shown on the schematic. Can the data rate from the LAN9221 be controlled or how else is this discrepancy resolved? Thank you.
