    Hi,

We want to connect a OV5640 camera board(https://www.waveshare.com/ov5640-camera-board-a.htm) to the DM3730 Torpedo Kit via camera connector.

    1) Looking at the schematic, the camera input pin on the 26-pin connector is 5V but the OV5640 accepts 3.3V voltage.Hence planning to power 3.3V externally(from outside) to the OV5640 camera board. The other data lines and SCL,SDA line will be conencted to the  DM3730 Torpedo Kit. Can we go ahead with this approach?

    2) I observed that the 26-pin camera connector does not have pin for HREF which is required for parallel camera connector(DVP) . Please let us know how do we proceed?

    Thanks,
    Swathi

    Swathi,

We have an application note for customers looking to interface their camera solution to our SOMs.

The application note is available for download on the download support site.
10/24/2017 AN 596 Logic PD Development Kit Camera Module Selection and Integration
    pdf (1) Rev B 297 Kb

In the application note it discuss how to deal with the voltage level changes in section 2.
Typically, 2.8V and 3.3V systems are close enough to be functional, but the signal levels on J6 can be adjusted through R194 and R195 if needed.

As for HREF, according to section 2.1.1 of the OV5640 application note(2), the Href and Hsync signal is on the same pin – Href. The function of this pin could be selected by SCCB setting.

    Hi,
The document "1020203H_DM37x_Linux_BSP_UM.pdf" shared with the Torpedo kit mentions that the Leopard imaging camera module is supported and can be connected directly to the J6 parallel camera connector on the Torpedo Kit.

Please let us know where can we find the camera adapter board(Leopard Imaging 5 megapixel LI-5M04 camera adapter board) to try it ourselves. The links mentioned in the document are not available.
If there are any other camera sensor boards which can be directly connected to the J6 parallel camera connector on the Torpedo kit.

    Thanks,
    Swathi
