After manually setting my IP address and issuing the BOOTME & command, the download dies at arbitrary places. The errors from LOLO are:

Timeout Trying to Allocate for Send
    MIR_REG: 0x4
    INTERRUPT_REG: 0xb115
    CPLD MASK REG: 0x840e
    Was allocating 0x34 bytes

I get the above a number of times before getting the message below:

    section 2: phy_addr: 0xc00e1000 phy_len: 0x0009f920 cksum: 0x03b3de1c
    section 2: unable to read (-1) (11)
    BOOTME: error loading

It does occasionally work and when it does, I can sometimes boot it up.

I also have another odd issue that when I source the exec command (from the quick start manual) in /dev/serial_eeprom, that the command being executed doesn't match the string it's supposed to be. Comparing the two looks as if there is noise in the memory data path. Only one or two characters are off.

Do I just have a bum board/card engine?

    Thanks,

    Marc

    Hello Mark,

The issues you are describing are consistent with other A400 customers with CPLD code prior to 2.8. Please refer to the PCN for further explanation and instructions to resolve this issue.

In any case your card engine should be returned to Logic for CPLD update. Please send an email to platformsupport@logicpd.com. We will issue an RMA number and shipping instructions. The issue can be resolved in a couple of days with overnight shipping on both ends.

Please refer to the email below, which you may have already received from the card engine distributor.

We need to inform you of an issue on our LH7A400-10 Card Engines that can cause erratic behavior of the touch interface and serial eeprom interface.

We have posted a PCN (Product Change Notification) on the downloads page for the LH7A400 SDK describing the issue and what actions can be taken. The documented is named "LH7A400-10 CPLD PCN" and is in pdf form.

    Andrew,

Thanks for the reply. How does the CPLD error cause the NIC problem? I didn't see anything in the document to indicate that there was a connection between the two.

    Thanks,

    Marc

    Mark,

Please check the settings of your JTAG jumpers. Several kits were shipped from our manufacturer with the jumpers in the wrong position. Another customer had similar network problems and correcting the jumpers solved them.

The JTAG jumpers are found on header J6. For the Sharp A400 to run in normal mode (no JTAG debugger attached), both jumpers should be on the positive side. That is, the jumpers should connect pin-1 to pin-3 and pin-2 to pin-4. If yours are not set correctly, please do so now.

Also note, that you should be connected to the device at a baud rate of 115200. If your settings were wrong, you may have found that another baud rate worked.

As to why the CPLD code would affect the NIC, the signals from the processor to the SmSC 91C111 Ethernet controller flow through the CPLD. The same can be said for the touch controller. A timing problem was identified with the old CPLD code which caused the network and touch interfaces to behave inconsistently. Thus the need for the new code.
