First, I've looked at this threa which seemed to be related, but it doesn't solve anything.

We are running Linux from the BSP, written to on-board NAND, but after running for a couple of hours, the battery gets completely drained and the board begins to power cycle. Booting from SD with LoLo on it doesn't charge the battery either, we have to restore the flash to its original state and leave it for several hours.

What should we do to make the battery charge while running Linux?
The kit's LCD display wasn't connected, I haven't gotten around to trying it with the display yet.

Any pointers? I can build the kernel from scratch if necessary.

If you haven't done so already, you can post this question to our Ask A Question system.
Depending on which kit you have you might be able to update to a newer BSP that has a higher charging level.
The AAQ guys may also have a command you can use to boost the charge rate.

    Thanks

Thanks Richard, I'll do that tomorrow (away from work today), but is it normal for the battery to drain faster than it is charged? Would you happen to know whether it is possible, with some software setting, to do away with the battery entirely, and power the board only from the AC adapter?

It is not uncommon depending on the charge level that is set to draw more than is going in. On the 35x we used the PMIC to charge the battery, and this caused a lot of extra heat on the Torpedo. It is possible to modify the baseboard to eliminate the battery connection. The Ask A Question guys should have the procedure. That is how most of the kits in our SQA system are set up.

The new DM37 kits have a jumper that you can move to run off wall power or the battery. The battery charging circuit is also on the baseboard.

    Good Luck.

Thanks again, Richard. I've received a solution from Platform Support, in the form of scripts that show the battery status (via the monitoring ADC), as well as increase the charging level. The scripts were for LoLo, but adapting them to Linux shouldn't be too hard, since the register settings are all clearly indicated.
