    Hello,

We want to interface keypad to the zoom 7A400-10 starter development kit through the USB Host.we connect the Activesync through the Type B USB connector. We want to use Type A USB connector in the kit for the keypad interfacing. Can we use this feature in the existing kit without modification in the hardware.shall we want to install any other driver. If it be so, Where and how can get this driver. Is Logicpd support
this?.If it is how the keys are defined? Is specification for the keypad should be given by Us?what is the difference between interfacing the standard USB keyboard and custom keypad?.Is there any custom keypad with USB for windowsCE application.we want to enter numbers 0 t0 9, alphabets and also some OS related operations such as suspend and wakeup operations. Please give us your suggestion.

The Sharp LH7A400 processor does not support USB host directly. To use USB host you would need to provide an external USB host chip that interfaces to the CPU's host bus. The baseboard has a USB Host connector because it is a standard baseboard and is used with other CPU's that support USB host, such as the LH7A404 processor.

An external button array or keypad would typically be connected to CPU's keypad peripheral pins, or through standard GPIO. In the past these interfaces have been custom per the application so there is not a standard keypad driver available in Logic's winCE BSP. We have implemented these interfaces before for customers and we could certainly help develop a custom driver for your application through a support contract.

    Hello,

Thanks for your reply. In logicpd baseboard, there is three connectors namely SODIMM-144 connector and two 80 pin card engine board level mate.I think that the connections from the Sharp LH7A400 processor and the LH7A404 processor to these baseboard connectors is the same. But in the LH7A400 card engine some functions are not implemented and in LH7A404 those functions such as USB Host are implemented but pins are remains same. Are we right? From your reply, i understood that the keypad can be connected through cpu pins such as GPIO or keypad phripheral pins. Our custom hardware consists only USB Host as the external interfacing. It doesn't have any other interfacing with CPU pins externally. Is keypad interfacing possible witout those external interfacing,i mean only with USB Host and custom driver from logicpd. Please confirm that there is no change between LH7A400 card engine pin outs and LH7A404 pinouts (we know that they are functional wise not same ) because we want to interchange card engines without modification in the hardware.

    senthami_zhan,

If you require further assistance for this I would recommend putting in a support contract, please contact Monica Ribolzi for more information.

    Thanks,
