I have am having more than a few problems getting anything going on the new board for the Zoom MCF5329. First off thier is no direct forum here for that board so I'm just putting a few things into here looking for some answers.

Is there anything for the Linux BSP or anything available out there at all for the 5329. I don't see anything on the downloads and have had no response throught he reps I had talked to.

Also what exactly is your setup with the Linux BSPs reguarding code and your EULA. You have a VERY strict EULA that refers to licensing product continuously, but if that follows into the Linux BSP then its going to be impossible to develop on it for our company. Considering your a dev board manufacturer that makes me very weary about using your product.

Also is the bootloader for the 5329 hamstrung or is something wrong. I am having problems loading image files and can't find much working help to deal with any of the issues. Some commands ifconfig, and anything to do with the 'net' commands are missing info, and help information.

    mjanderson,

    Thanks for your questions!

You are experiencing issues common with folks on the fast track that are early adopters. The kit you have is either Alpha or Beta and was provided with limited software at the time of shipment. LogicPD forum support for this kit should go live any day now. If you have registered the kit on the the logicpd.com website you should have access to http://www.logicpd.com/auth/downloads/MCF5329/ which has all available to date LogicPD downloadable files. Included is the latest release of Logic Loader (Lolo) http://www.logicpd.com/do...oads/774/1004756.zip

The early kit shipments did not have all features implemented in Lolo, specifically Ethernet and the NAND filesystem. I recommend you download the latest version of Lolo, then you should be able to do a 'help net' command which will bring up the supported commands and their usage. From the MFC5329 registered downloads page on our site there is also a Logic Loader User's Manual and Command Description Manual which may also be of use.

Regarding Linux development, Freescale is in the process of developing a uClinux port. They are behind on their promise dates, however, we do have an early drop from Freescale with ethernet and serial support. We are expecting a new drop any day now with more features complete. Freescale is also porting NanoX to the platform, I am not sure on the deliverable timelines for that port.

Regarding the LPD EULA, if you are using a Freescale provided BSP I don't think it applies. The LPD EULA is for software developed at LPD and is intended for use on the Card Engine modules which ship in high volumes directly to end customers for use in end products. The MCF5329-10 module mounted on your development kit is one example of the modules that are availble in high volume.

Let us know how we can help.

Ahh... thank you for the answers. I was not informed that this was a alpha/beta version of the board, so it gives me more clues as to whats going on. Is there any extra issues with this board or is it mainly the software that has not been completed?

Alpha boards had a HW issue with some JTAG devices not working properly through the BDM interface. Alpha boards also didn't ship with Lolo. Beta boards shipped with a preliminary copy of Lolo in flash and had all known HW bugs fixed. There is still a MCF5329 silicon bug which prevents USB host and function from operating properly on Beta kits.

Production kits have the SLIM DB9 connector changed to a through hole part for mechanical reliability on the SDK. Some baseboard SDK resistor values will also change on the USB DP/DM lines. Production kits will also be ROHS compliant.
