Transfer acknowledge logic for Compact Flash 2487 0
Started by logiclab
I'm working on MCF5329EVB and I found a problem () with the connection of FlexBus Transfer Acknowledge (/TA) from Compact Flash to the CPU.
Looking at the schematics of the baseboard, the nCHRDY signal is connected to pin -WAIT (42) of the compact flash (page 5) and it ends on page 2 at 144PIN MCF5329 engine card connector (also on page 10 test-point). Looking at the schematics of the MCF5329 engine can be seen that the signal nCHRDY from page 2 ends in a logic inverter (SN74ALVC14DGVR) on page...

Performance 2517 6
Started by Deleted User
I noticed that the hardware documentation states that the 5329 evaluation boards runs internally at 240 Mhz. after power-on-reset. This is noted on pages 8 and 9 of the MCF-5329-10 Hardware Specification (Logic PN 1004028). Using the LogicLoader monitor, I looked at the Chip Configuration Register (CCR at 0Xfc0a0004) and a value of 0x0009 was returned. Bit 1(PLL MODE) = 0 indicates that the processor PLL derived clock is running at 180 instead of 240 Mhz.
First, is this true If so, how can...

Mechanical problem with SDK, USB Multilink, and Display Kit 2666 1
Started by PWR
Hello out there,
we are new in ColdFire development and have started with the Zoom ColdFire SDK and the Zoom 6.4" Display Kit. As you know the SDK comes with the USB BDM Interface from P&E Microcomputer Systems.
Provided that the problem does not sit in front of the computer screen and between my ears, from the included documentation I deduce that the correct orientation of the BDM Interface in respect to the SDK board is as shown in the included picture. This however would collide wit...

MCF5329 UART2 2596 1
Started by SD_EE
I have an application that requires three UARTs. I have verified the operation of UART0 and UART1 on the eval board, but UART2 has some strange behavior.
Anything that I transmit on UART2 also shows up on the recieve line - not only in the read buffer, but I can see what I transmit on the recieve line with an oscilloscope. Why is whatever I transmit also showing up on the receiver Is this due to the external CAN and RS232 circuitry on the eval board Is this a problem with the 5329 silicon

Passing EMI testing 2211 0
Started by Deleted User
Problem:
We're seeing EMI spikes at 120MHz & 360MHz that we've isolated to the SOM board. If I program the Flash to do a 'halt' as the first instruction out of reset, the spikes are still there. Hold reset low and the spikes go away. Any pointers to the main sources of EMI and solutions would be helpful.
Solution:
The silver bullet is disabling the MCF5329 Debug Module. The MCF5329 supports real time processor debugging. The side effect is by default the JTAG/PST lines spam out processor ...

Using LoLo with the Freescale BSP 2885 15
Started by Deleted User
I have been trying to use Lolo as a boot loader for the uclinux image I have built using the BSP supplied by Freescale. The image I have built downloads and runs fine using Dbug, but I cannot seem to get it to work through Lolo. I want to use Lolo, so I can do some simple logic of mounting the Compact Flash, check for a new image, dump that image to flash, dump flash image to ram, run the image. I can do all of that except for running the image. Whenever I try to load it using the command loa...

Auxillary GPIO ports using SPI 2560 2
Started by Deleted User
Hi
I writing an additional GPIO driver based on the mcp23s17 SPI chip.
I have problems with the spi_write_then_read() function. The returned value is dummy (0xFF or 0x00).
I tried different values ".del_cs_to_clk" and ".del_after_trans" in the chip structure, without results. I checked signals on the SPI bus using oscilloscope and they are correct.
The spi_write() function work very good.
I think it is software problem.
Here is my function form the driver module:
static ...

Audio Codec does not respond 2491 3
Started by Samuraiburger
Hi folks
Im trying for two weeks now getting the TI320AIC23B on the board to work. Since the CPU cannot supply the required 12MHz Clk,
I removed R116 and soldered in C51, C52 and the Y2 quartz. (I used a 10MHz, but this should not be a problem for testing)
This provides a smooth clock signal. The amplitude is with about 100mv a bit small, but CLKOUT pin shows a nice
rectangular 3.3V at 10MHz, so this seems alright. Logic analyser verifies that all 16bit data words on the SPI are identical

Started by Deleted User
I am working on a logicPD application board with coldfire processor MCF5329x (FireEngine) on it. I am facing problem while downloading my code into it using Freescale Codewarrior through a BDM connector.
While downloading code, CodeWarrior reports a problem "Could not set PC to entry point". This error occurs 9 out of 10 times and rest 1 time, it runs perfectly well.
Could you pls let me know the reason for this error Thanks for your support in advance.

CAN for Linux 2330 2
Started by Deleted User
Hi All,
I want to transmit CAN message using can_send function and when I try to do this with extended IDs (29 bits) I receive (on the other PC) only 17 bits of the CAN IDs. For example I send CAN message with ID=0x1FFFFFFF and on receiving site I get only ID=0x0001FFFF.
I am sure that I put right ID in can_send function and that the receive application work properly (type of the variable). When I am sending can message with standard ID everything it's ok.
Thank's for any sugestions !
Regards
